Meet Wendy of Southlake Concierge

Tell us a little about you:
I’m a Southern California girl, but feel right at home here in Texas! My husband and I decided to move our
family here, willingly and not for a job, almost three years ago. I’m the youngest of two, although I lost my big
brother to cancer over 10 year ago. My husband and I have been married for 19 years and my “love language”
is quality time together and laughter!

How many kids do you have and ages?
I have three kids. My oldest son is 15 and a freshman in high school, my other son just turned 13 and is in 7th
grade, my daughter just turned 11 and is in 5th grade. Two boys and a girl, just like I always dreamed!

What’s your favorite thing about being a mom?
I love being outside and taking little adventures. Since my kids were little, we’ve spent our time “day trippin’
at the local tide pools and digging in the sand, visiting museums, bike rides, hiking and discovering cool things
to explore around town.

What’s your favorite thing to do for “me” time?
That’s really hard to come by with running a new small business, plus activities for the three kids. But, when I
do have a spare moment or two, I enjoy shopping, reading, walking the dog on the trails around my house and
lazy days at the lake.

Tell us about your career/business?
I wanted to start a business that focused on supporting women, giving them back time to spend with their
families on the weekend. So, my team and I provide assistance to working parents, frequent travelers and
small business owners – anyone who needs a helping hand. We handle everything from day-to-day errands, to
managing the maintenance of a home, personal shopping, beautifully wrapping gifts, getting quotes and
scheduling repairs and more. We also offer virtual assistance to executives without administrative support.
This ranges from social media content creation and postings to creating materials for meetings, scheduling
travel and helping to organize meetings and events. Truly, each day is different and exciting!

How do you juggle your career and being a mom?
Fortunately, the type of work we do happens during the day while the kids are at school. Most clients want
the tasks to be completed while they’re at work and not at home. There are times that it gets a little tricky,
appointments run late, or I’m needed in the early evening. My husband is super supportive and will step into
help when I’m booked or working an event.

What is a piece of advice you have for other moms?
Gosh, there’s so to share on this, but I’ll say this, try to find the humor in struggles, the positives during the
tough times, and love BIG when you’re feeling frustrated and defeated. All these things will help you enjoy
parenthood and get you through some of the tough spots that all parents face. And, I always suggest that you
find a mentor mom to talk to, she’s been there!

What is a fun fact about you?
At the beginning of the year, two friends and I decided that we wanted to encourage the women of our
amazing community to gather over a meal to have great conversation and inspire friendships. We felt like
there was a space for networking, women’s charity, moms’ groups, but missing a place for women that just
wanted to meet new friends. We’ve all been “the new girl in town”, and that can sometimes be intimidating.
So, we started Women in Community (@wic_dfw). We’ve sold out every month, and sadly have been forced
to postpone events until its safe to gather again. You can never have too many friends!
